Hydrogen Energy
AGV Energy is developing HySustain®, a green hydrogen production project in Malaysia. The project involves investment partners from the EU, UK, and Japan and technology partners from the EU, US and Japan.
AGV Energy is in partnership with leading PEM electrolyser manufacturer and green hydrogen specialists. Leading compressed gas technology companies and manufacturers of Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers (LOHC) will provide solutions for transportation within Malaysia, the South East Asian regional market, and the Far East markets.
Overview
- Total Production Capacity 100,000 tons per year of Green Hydrogen
- Total Installed Electrolyser Capacity 600MW
- The project will be rolled out in 6 phases beginning 2024 and is set to be completed by 2030.
Energy for the future
Green Power Supply
Solar power and battery storage technologies will be employed to provide renewable power along with hydropower.
The battery storage solution is being developed alongside TNG Limited, Australia using the Vanadium Redox Flow Battery technology. The renewable energy partners include TNB, the Malaysian national utility corporation, and leading solar PV companies that have successfully participated and rolled out large-scale solar PV projects in Malaysia and globally.
Multi-billion dollar green hydrogen projects have been rolled out since 2020 worldwide. With that being said, HySustain® will be one of the first large-scale green hydrogen production projects in South East Asia. We are in advanced discussions with off-takers in the Asia Pacific region, who are racing to meet decarbonisation targets set by major markets.
There are tremendous benefits that Malaysia will be able to gain from the project. The usage of green hydrogen in these sectors will reduce our carbon footprint, and contribute toward Malaysia’s target of reducing the carbon footprint by 45% by 2030 as pledged to the UN Framework on climate change.
